Borat

Rated: R
Running Time: 84 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: High Five!

Hello, I am The Reviewer, I am to make the review for the moviefilm called the Borat. It is a real moviefilm for the man travels to US and A and he is called Borat. He have very sexy sister, and she I remember a lot of and can visit next time from the time I was in Kazik. I watch the moviefilm for me and for my hot sexytime wife. We go and eat some goat and fish creme with a fermented milk drink and then go visit it at the movie palace. We watch it and it was ok there was not any woweeewowo in it. I do not know who make a moviefilm like this. It does not make me happy down in the place where we have a handparty.

I laugh at movie sometimes. Other times I think that I before have seen this before. That it like before one time when another the man the Ali G man show me his moviefilm on TV. I say before is the same and we don't laugh. Othertimes in this moviefilm I laugh a lot at things that are make for most US and A people to say sick, or ewww. I also wonder if moviefilm is real all or fake all. There is the Pamela Anderson in it movie this time. She is fake or real. I do not know.

This one is ok. It is short sometimes. Almost like for price of moviefilm I get better action down the street from the lady prostitutes. However I get in for free this time for me so it is ok. For you, you should to think about maybe get moviefilm from the magic mail shiny circle disk. That you watch at for in your home. I have VCR machine it make for nice watching of the porno movie. Also maybe the Borat for you. It is ok. It is not 100 percent A times 10. Ok. I go now for home. It is Steamed Yak night! Very nice, High Five.

Pride And Prejudice

Rated: PG
Running Time: 127 Minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: It's hard to look at something new you have seen so much before.

I would guess in my lifetime, this is the fourth version? Fifth maybe? Of this story presented to me. I am not sure where I know it from. Perhaps it is just so widely used that the story has become so commonplace in the film world, that an actual adaptation of the book and the other stories that just use the format blur. Also just last month or so I watched Bride and Prejudice. So even more so the story was on my mind.

The movie was a wonderfully shot, perfect representation of this story which I would suspect all of you know in some form. With fine actors, wonderful perfect dialog and nothing that would leave you upset with it. The movie however does feel like a period piece and while it should I am stating it to provide the warning to those thinking of watching. The movie can be slow to those that are used to the funny romantic comedy or would not be prepared for it. It is very true to the time, and the original story, and might be a little too little for some.

I thought it was a very well put together film with Keira doing well and looking great. All the acting and the characters compared to more modern versions, were quite subtle. Their feelings hidden, their decisions coy, and their motivations held back for reasons that could be attributed to the period. I found this to be very interesting and showed the decision of the director to keep it following the period. Yet that behavior led to a, as I said before, slower and less obvious movie.

If you have seen this before, you are fine to skip it. It will not be something that you would miss out on, in conversation or for yourself. However if you do come across it you should like it. If you were thinking about renting it. The rental is worth it for sure.

Final Destination 3

Rated: R
Running Time: 93 minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Two Pairs
One Sentence: It's like Final Destination 1 and 2, except with a Roller Coaster.

When you get to part 3 of a series, you better have something new for it. Otherwise, it's just not really that interesting. Even with the Final Destination series, I mean how far can a collection of Rube Goldberg killing scenes carry you? Sadly there was not anything new in this one. This one even decided to get rid of that pesky tangible death and just went with it as more of a presence, and feeling. They didn't try to build the story together anymore and just assumed you saw the other two, with a small and unimportant reference to them.

There is nothing wrong with this movie, as far as what you would expect to get out of a teen death movie. Especially if you have seen any of the other 2 FDs. You don't even have to have seen the other 2 to watch this one. The lead in scene is with a roller coaster. These opening scene is what made the last 2 Final Destinations. In this one, it seems to be the least realistic of them all, however, not completely out of the question. A bit of a stretch, but put together well enough to give you a thought back to it the next time you get on a coaster.

The other deaths were ok as well, it was like everything about 1 and 2 just a little bit weaker and a little bit less interesting. Almost exactly what you would expect from the third in a series. No super hot girls, no new twists, no new anything. 2 girls topless, which is new for the series. Got to bring in something fresh I guess. Oh and the CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE!!! A feature on the DVD where they shot the movie with the DVD in mind. You can select choices and see where it takes you. You can end the movie in a little under 10 minutes. Almost makes it worth it.

Rent it maybe, play with the choose your own adventure thing and have fun with the death scenes, but don't go looking for anything more than just that. Because there is nothing else there.

Hollywoodland

Rated: R
Running Time: 126 minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Superman is dead!

I am forcing this review out of me. Usually what that means is that there is nothing really great or shitty about the movie I am writing a review for. If I have nothing to say, it is about as middle of the road as you can get. This is pretty much what I felt about Hollywoodland. A 1950's LA confidential look at the life and death of TV's Superman. George Reeves, played by Affleck.

Huge solid cast, wonderful acting all around, and a story, that could be interesting. And I say mediocre. I just didn't like it that much, I mean for what it was supposed to be or what I felt it was supposed to be. It had nothing wrong with it and probably is quite a good movie. It just didn't move me. It was slow and mild, with a hint of Noir, but just sat there most of the time telling the story. About a dick. About a drunk asshole. They tried to make it about something else. However in the end it just seemed to be about a drunk asshole, and didn't really have much to him.

There is nothing wrong with this movie at all. Libertie said she liked it. I think it was ok. I just can't find much to talk about with it.

Scary Movie 4

Rated: PG-13
Running Time: 91 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Lib said she saw 1 nip but I didn't see it.
One Sentence: Better than scary movie 3.

Scary Movie 1 is great. Scary movie 2 was pretty ok. 3 sucked very badly. I expected 4 to be equally as bad, but I decided to rent it anyway. I think because I am punishing myself for previous indiscretions. I also cut myself sometimes, and clip a car battery to my balls once a month or so, but let's not get into that here. Another reason why I would watch this is because of Anna. She is one of my must watch girls, which I have mentioned before. The other 2 are Zooey and Parker. So we have all these things, that push me toward watching this movie that I expect to be horrible. Happily I get to report that the movie was not a complete and total shitbox.

I don't know where they got the money, I guess the franchise is pretty powerful because they are now making Scary Movie 5, but they spent a lot on CG and sets. The sets were amazing, some of them I thought were the sets from the movies they were spoofing. According to what I read however they were just copied sets, and were not the actual sets. The movies and sets that were awesome, were The Grudge house, War of the Worlds houses, Saw room and the Village. Also the tri-pod ships were awesome looking. Not as good as War of the worlds, but better than anything you would expect from this level of movie. I was impressed with this part of the movie's attention to detail, it really helped. Also costumes were identical and characters, looked like the spoofed. Good stuff.

Surprisingly the movie also was pretty funny. There were a few things that I thought were not necessary. Like fart and poop jokes, I do not get why those are still done. Do people think these are funny? I don't personally but I am sure someone does. So there were those which I could do without. But the script that tied in all these different movies, wrapped up pretty good and the humor was ok to sometimes LOL funny. It also had a solid cast. Brought back Anna, who also is doing 5. Anthony Anderson, Leslie Nealson, Shaq and Dr. Phil. The Dr. Phil and Shaq scene I thought was pretty funny. Chris Elliot, Carmen Electra, Michael Madsen and Bill Pullman. I think if you like the others, you will like this one enough to rent it.

Idiocracy

Rated: R
Running Time: 90 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: This is only 500 years in the future not 1000 like many reports have claimed.

What you haven't heard about this movie? You didn't go see it yourself this weekend? Even if you wanted to go see it you could not because it was only in a few cities and yours is not on the list? Idiocracy is the new Mike Judge movie. It was made about a year ago, and has since been delayed, rejected to be released, and anything else possible to keep it from being on screen. Finally I think Fox gave Mike Judge the ability to release it himself. With no marketing budget. It was released in something like 12 cities. Austin was of course one of those cities.

Usually I do not write a summary of the movie, but since no one would know what this is about I am going to. It is about the future and that 500 years in the future, everyone is such an idiot that someone that was frozen from the year 2005. A normal guy. Gets unfrozen and is the smartest man in the world.

The movie is funny, just about as funny as it sounds. Something like a slightly political twist and a lot of stupid people. However the movie is not filled with too many jokes about butts. Just enough to make you cry at your children's future. I would say that the movie made me laugh, but I didn't find it to be pure genius like I did with Office Space. However the reviews from others seem to show a different statement with an overwhelming love for this one equal or better than Office Space. I think it is totally rentable, and will probably do well with the same crowd that made Office Space a DVD hit. I am not going to say that you should go see this in the theater if you have it available. I think most that watch this will have a good time with it. However I am gonna have to say don't go out of your way to see it.

Dirty Love

Rated: R
Running Time: 91 Minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Jenny's
One Sentence: This might be too deep into the deep dark world of woman.

Jenny, oh Jenny. She is hot, and not just in a hot way, but in a cool as fuck way too. She has always seemed that way, way back since we first saw her on Singled Out, yea, you remember that shit. Just am awesome girl, with big tits, that got naked and was funny. She got married, had a kid, went away for a while and then wrote a movie. This is that movie. Critically destroyed, Dirty Love was on many many worst of 2005 lists. I think I have seen it also listed as worst movie ever made. You are not going to hear such nonesence from me...maybe.

One thing that I think many people do not know is that this is pretty much a dark view into the psycho psyche of females. I think that might be a little too much for most men. This movie is in your face with the menstrual blood dripping across the floor, and well, when you think of Jenny, you do not think of bleeding crotches. Poorly acted, completely rediciouls and over done, it is not really a romantic comedy, it isn't really a comedy, it is mostly a movie made by a crazy chick for crazy chicks, that some might consider funny. I personally thought it was mildly funny, and a little disturbing, but I have also been told I am quite empathetic to the female's, so that might be where I can dig this.

However if you really want to see some greatness, you have to rent this movie for Carmen Electra, she is the one in the movie that looks like Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, with better eyes. She did the most awesome kick ass job, and so was worth the watch. Jenny shows her boobies once as well. Besides that, it is ok funny, pretty crazy, poorly written, slightly cute, and mostly ok to fucked up in some parts. The recommendation is different from the rating. Because I kind of dug it, but I would not 100% recommend it to anyone. I might not even say I ever even saw it. But I know Leslie is reccomending it to everyone so rent it.

Talladega Nights

Rated: PG-13
Running Time: 105 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Will Farrell as a Nascar driver.

I am so not in a writing mood. But I have a bunch of unreviewed movies, and I have not written this week, and I could use this time to kill some time. So yea. Will Farrell as a Nascar Driver. Truth be told. I never thought Will Farrell was the best of the SNL group. I think there are a lot funnier people on there, or were with him. However he was the tallest so he gets the big bucks. (That's how it works in Hollywood)

The movie is funny. About as funny as you would expect it to be. Amy Adams is hot. But you know, nothing that was side splitting, and really making me rush out to tell you all to go see it in the theater as soon as possible. Red hair and glasses is hot. So I don't know, I am just kinda so-so on it. I would say that the supporting cast, was funnier than Will was. She was in an episode of Buffy. I really like Ali G in his role as a Frenchy gay man, married to Andy Richter. She was also in Cruel Intentions 2 and Psycho Beach Party, I wonder if she got naked in those. So I don't know. I just don't have a lot to say, and I hate writing these types of reviews, because they are boring and not worth reading, and I do not provide you anything I am sure you could not figure out on your own. So I guess rent it maybe, if you like his humor and liked Anchorman.

The Descent

Rated: R
Running Time: 99 Minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: I would never go do that cave shit.

I am pretty much a pussy. I don't like to jump off of things, I don't like to get hurt, I don't really like heights, and I sure as fuck do not like the idea of going into a rock hole, that is completely pitch black to cram myself through to see what is down there. I have gone into caves, and they are cool. But they were also controlled by other people and have lights and hand rails and all that. None of the areas could I become permanently stuck in and starve to death, that just is not my idea of fun. So, you have that format that people automatically are scared of, the dark, tight, closed spaces...and of course, some sort of monster creature.

I blame Tim League, for writing that this was the scariest movie he has seen in a long while. I am not going to agree with that statement. It was kind of a let down, because it didn't exploit what I thought would have been smart fear based filming and instead went with monsters. You are in a cave, a dark, tiny, uncharted cave, that shit was scary enough as it was. But then you let in a humanoid race that behaves like the Alien race from the Alien movies, which as I have stated would not be able to sustain itself, or we do not see that type of behavior in nature. An outwardly attacking creature that does so for purposes other than eating or defense. The only species that does that is those with cognitive thought. These creatures did not show cognitive thought. However were outwardly attacking and that just doesn't work for me.

The movie was scary, was well put together, and probably be a very good watch for most people. It was for me, I did have a good time watching it. Thought it was overall good, but I just thought it was going to be something else, and was kind of let down by the monster aspect of it. I was just looking for a more real scare, as that seems to do quite well. I think it's rentable for sure, and maybe even go see it in the theater. I had a good time with it, just not an amazing time.

Hostel

[ HOSTEL POSTER ]
Rated: R
Running Time: 94 Minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Lots and lots of boobs.
One Sentence: I can't even tell what a horror movie is anymore.

For a lot of this movie, there is no killing or blood or anything like that. It plays out like a sequel to Euro Trip, but not as funny. A few kids travel across Europe and try to screw a bunch of girls. I guess that is what you are supposed to do when you go to Europe. I went to Europe once, for 1 day. I did not screw any girls, I actually never really left the airport, but that is a whole different story.

I don't know about this movie, I guess I mean it was all right, but it didn't play out as a horror movie at all. Or I am getting so desensitized to what horror is, that I just don't notice it when I see it. I really don't have anything bad to say about it. I don't have anything great to say about it either. The "horror" portion of the movie was not that impressive, and the beginning was not really that interesting either, but there were tons of naked girls mixed in throughout the movie, which helped make there be a point for most of it. And I am all for boobs, but I don't think it can carry the movie all the way through.

It was a lot better than Cabin Fever, which I thought was a complete waste of time, when that came out, so I guess he is progressing forward. I just have nothing really to say. I am guessing there are better horror movies to rent out there than this one, I don't know any of them, but I bet there are.

Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price

Rated: NR
Running Time: 95 minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Wal-Mart is the devil!

Wal-Mart online is where I got my start, my dad worked for them for a while as a director of development. Wal-Mart from my point of view in not a terrible company. But I also know that they are not a good company to those who work hourly in their stores. This non-narrated documentary, is supposed to show the evil side of Wal-Mart. All the evil it does and causes. EVIL!

The movie is all right. It is just about as I expected it to be. It had people who got crushed by Wal-Mart in one way or the other telling their stories about how it happened, and to pull on your heart strings and make you feel sorry for mom and pop. I guess it works, the movie does not come off as fake, or making up stories to try to give it's point of view. Some of the points that are made I felt were valid, while others I feel are part of the marketplace, and tough titty, if you got crushed by someone else. I don't feel like my life was changed watching this film, or that it was going to cause me to stop shopping at Wal-Mart as little as I do already.

You could or could not rent it, I do not think I would say that everyone should see this movie, you owe it to your grandchildren. I think if you do not like Wal-Mart this will help you understand why you should hate them, and if you like them, then this movie might paint a picture you never knew about them, but it doesn't mean it is going to change your mind.

Grandma's Boy

Rated: R
Running Time: 94 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: 1 Pair
Quotes: Don't wake up my roommates. You mean your parents?

So I was not going to watch this movie, because it looked dumb. But Liberties brother told me it was worth watching, so I added it to the queue, and so that it was not 2008 before I watched it, it got bumped up in the queue, and because it isn't long, it got watched over Munich. So that is the reason I even watched this movie in the first place. It is a movie about a Video Game tester, and his video game tester friends, and weed, and hot three ways, and stolen video game code and various other fun nerdy stuff.

Overall the movie is as you expect it, stupid. However that doesn't mean it is actually a bad movie. The whole thing has got trashy humor and weed jokes and video games jokes. The characters however are quite good and make it worth the watch. It is a large wide group of horrible actors who have very good stereotypical roles set for them. It kinda pans out as funny in some parts. I would say that it is funny enough that some of you might enjoy it. Others however will think it is totally stupid, and a complete waste of time. So you are going to have to look at yourself and see if you will make it through this one.

I have very little to say about it, I guess I wasn't disappointed. 3 stars.

Jesus Is Magic

Rated: NR
Runngin Time: 72 Minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: It's not really like a movie.

Sarah Silverman, always hot, sometimes funny. For some reason she is doing it with Jimmy Kimmel, who I do not think is attractive enough or powerful enough to be hittin that, but he does have a kid and ex-wife so you know "baggage." Anyway she is in this joint, which I thought was more like a movie than a stand up comedy film, but it isn't it is a stand up comedy film, with some skits thrown in there. Some songs too.

Overall I found the routine, mildly funny on occasion and was not solid enough to warrant a whole film release. The material was not solid. I don't think it was just me either, it wasn't like she killed. The audience in the film were not falling out of their chairs either. There were some funny parts, but it just was not a home run for me. I really have little to say about it. Somewhat funny, offensive, a lot of racial humor and the word pussy a lot. So I don't know, I would say rent if you like or don't rent if you like. But I will leave you with this funny Sarah Silverman clip, that is work safe.

Pocahontas

Rated: G
Running Time: 81 Minutes
Year: 1995
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Add another movie to the long long list of Disney movies that the main character is without a mother.

There is a reason why I and many other people have not seen this movie. And here it is.

Not Hot!

Look at the previous Disney girls...

Ariel, a red headed mermaid!

Belle, a way hot french farm girl

And Jasmine, a way hot scantly clad desert hotty.

Disney was in a new period, there was a new animation process, with painted back drops using computer overlays, new way's to animate, and new wonderful songs. They were doing everything right and included in that was some way hot looking lead's. Now I know some of you are thinking, these are cartoons, how can they be hot. But it does not matter, the first thing I thought when I saw the preview for Pocahontas, when I was in High School was, man she looks like crap I don't wanna see that movie, because if the lead looks like crap, then the movie must be crap. Guy's have to go to these movies too, weather it is as a dad, or a boyfriend, we have to want to see these movies too. And Belle, Jasmine, and Ariel made it a lot easier for us to say yes, we will go.

So Libertie bought this movie finally, kinda low on her list of Disney movies as she just acquired it. So I finally watched it only 11 years late. Was it worth the wait...no, not really. I mean it was good, but it was on such a different page than almost anything else they had done in the 90's, it just sticks out as boring and not really that fun. The other Disney movies of this time, made you feel magical, and alive, that anything was possible. All this movie made me feel is like, damn, we white people sure were motherfuckers back in the day. (and some still are) It did not have fun characters, it did not have good songs, and it did not have a lot of color or livleyness to it. The whole movie can be predicted and understood if you compare the picture of Pocahontas to one of the other girls, more straight and without color and softness. Just harsh, boring, and kinda not remarkable in any way.

District B13

Banlieue 13

Rated: R
Running Time: 85 minutes
Year: 2004
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: In France there are a lot more white gangsters.

We hit up District B13 or Banlieue 13 in French. The Alamo South had it so we hit it up for our Monday night movie. I know nothing about this movie as far as History, all I know is it was made in 2004 and the Alamo thought it was good enough to run. I am not sure if it is in any of your theaters, or if you can even rent it.

The idea is that it is 2010 in Paris, and they have walled off all the bad ghettos, from the rest of Paris, and the worst one B13 is a crime ridden hell hole. Led by gangsters and drugs. One day these gangsters get a big old bomb and it is bad news for all the people in Paris. So they send in a cop and a former thug to take care of the situation.

So the movie is pretty much an all action super cool freestyle walking/fighting music video. With music produced by Dr. Octopus. A name I have not heard in a long while. The pulse of the movie is awesome, just fast paced with good music and solid fight and chase scenes. It's totally popcorn in every way. Oh the movie is all in French however, so you will have to read subtitles. Anyway, they got these two guys who do all that wall climbing super cool freestyle walking. I think there is a name for it but I can't think of it. So they exploit that to no end, having all these cool action fight sequences and chance scenes on foot. Also some tricked out ricers and just over all felt very stylish and fun. It had a pulse like Run Lola Run.

The plot was a little cheesy but I didn't really care, it had a good opening title sequence and just held on throughout most of the movie, with very little slow down to build up any plot, so I didn't really care. The only thing I have to complain about was that I wish they had at least one more cool fight or chase scene, it was only 85 minutes and they could have fit it in without seeming over reaching. I guess if you see it as a rentable, then you could add it, I think most people would have fun with it.

The Da Vinci Code

Rated: PG-13
Running Time: 149 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: I am related to Jesus.

Now before we get into this one, if I decided to go to school forever and get a PHD in something, it would most likely have been religious studies. So what that means is I pretty much totally geek out on anything like this. I think however many people do as well. The idea of proof or disproof of god is something many people are interested in. Many people do not take the next step to see what is real and what is not in this story, and that is where the controversy comes from. However what I am saying here is that most likely my review is bias just based on the subject matter.

As always I have not read the book. So what did I think about the most anticipated movie of the summer, well I mean if you don't count snakes on a plane. I thought it was all right. Not the steaming pile of crap all the "real" critics said it was. It held my attention throughout the whole movie, it was interesting. I like treasure hunts, and puzzles, and holy grail shit, and the whole thing I think plays to a lot of people with certain triggers. However if you are not into this, I could totally see how you would be totally bored with this movie. It is slightly slow, and no one in the movie commands your attention. It is all very low key, and you hope that the audience is into the story and that will keep you paying attention. Luckily for me, I was.

I think if you are not into the idea of this type of stuff, you could be fine renting it, actually I think anyone could be fine renting it, I would not rush to the theater to pay for it. Unless of course you have to see Tom Hanks terrible hair cut which is some crazy horrible event in itself that could rip the very fabric of all that our society is based on. Maybe.

Poseidon

Rated: PG-13
Running Time: 99 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Rogue waves are real I looked them up.

I have never seen the Poseidon Adventure, it is in the netflix queue, but it came out before I was born and I have never gotten around to it. It pretty much launched the disaster movie. Many to follow after the huge event that was the Poseidon Adventure. Earthquake, The Towering Inferno and The Core! So I have nothing to compare the remake to. Not that I expect them to be comparable anyway.

So the main reason I wanted to watch this movie was because in the preview there is a huge wave. Looks to be like 100 feet or so. It is called a rogue wave. I wanted an explanation of this rogue wave, how it occurred, and why they happen. I did not get any of this. I only got info that they are rare, and occur randomly and are not predictable. I however did do some reading on the net this morning, and that seems to be pretty much it. They are about 100 feet at their top heights, are random and not really predictable. They are expected to be the cause of many ship sinkings but a cruise liner has never been sunk. So I guess the idea is not completely out of the question.

The movie itself is as you expect. It is a big money action underwater boat movie, that has very little character development, and a lot of big budget CG and water thrown at it. Overall those sequences were solidly put together. They were fun, and scary, and looked very good. This is about all we can expect from a movie like this. We are not going to learn about the characters, and love them. So all we have left is the boat and action. I wouldn't say it was lame, or terribly cheesy, I think it was worth the ticket price, and we both said when we got out of the movie, that it was put together well and worth the watch. So add it to the queue, or go see it in the theater, for god's sake it cost them 200 million to make and they only pulled back 20 million this weekend. They need help! But with the Di Vinci Code coming out next weekend, I doubt you will get around to it.

Memoirs Of A Geisha

Rated: PG-13
Running Time: 145
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Geisha are not prostitutes even if they do sell their virginity.

I am not going to get into the whole thing about Chinese girls, playing Japanese Geisha. I am fine with the choices of the people they cast regardless of their nationality. I have very little to say about this movie really. I liked it. It was pretty much what I expected. Maybe a little bit longer story than I thought it was going to touch on, and the period was a little bit more modern than I expected, but overall it was all there.

So what do I have to say about this one? I think it is worth the rental if you thought you would like to see it and were looking for a review to back that up. It is worth the rental I think. Just not a mind blowing event. Everything was very pretty or shot well. The usage of color and the presentation of the period and the sets were very nice. Costuming was excellent, and the feeling of the movie portrayed what was expected of it. I guess the thing that leaves me with not much to say is the story itself. A meek and sad story that is slowish, that leaves you thinking there was not much to it except a long drawn out love story. And it is not a bad story at all. I guess I was just expecting more to it. The plot seemed quite weak compared to the cast, sets, and the presentation of that plot. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me.

I also have to mention that sometimes it was hard to understand some of the dialog. All Chinese or Japanese people, speaking in English, left some accents a bit thick and at times hard to understand. In this dialog focused film, it kinda left me a bit frustrated struggling to understand them. I felt it might be even better in Japanese and then with subtitles. It doesn't ruin the movie but there might be some parts that you are going to miss, you will still get the idea however. So add it to the queue, if you were wanting to check it out but didn't know what people thought. You will enjoy it enough to justify the rental.

Silent Hill

Rated: R
Running Time: 127 Minutes
Year: 2006
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Another video game/horror movie.

I have not played any of the Silent Hill games. Horror games are not really something I like too much. They always are too dark and I don't play games in the dark, and after the terrible playability of Resident Evil, I just never really got behind too many other horror games. So since I have never played the games, I guess I didn't know the whole story. This is usually not an issue for me, as I usually have played the game or at least know something about it and can keep up. Or the movie is so simple that you really don't need anything to help you with the story.

So this movie, while not a complete mind bender, does have a lot of open ended unanswered questions. It leaves you going, so what happened, what does this or that mean, and what happened at the end of the movie. I think this movie was made with the knowledge that it was a fan movie, and so they didn't dive deeper into it. The movie is 2 hours as it is, we can't get deeper into story without people starting to lose interest, after all this is a horror movie. Sadly not really a horror movie though either. It was a mystery/thriller wrapped into some creepy scenes, but not necessarily a horror movie.

The movie is stacked full of overacting nobodies who do not carry fear, mystery, or any other emotions very well at all. The story is ok, and I would not say completely terrible. It had some cool ideas, some cool scenes, and some cool sets, but I think that is all it really did very well. A bit of cool here and there that didn't complete the movie or execute it extremely well. However with all that the movie isn't completely lost. It held my attention pretty well, but it did feel long at the end, and I would say that it was cool enough to rent if your into stylistic horror. Just don't expect something amazing.

Grizzly Man

Rated: R
Running Time: 103 minutes
Year: 2005
Boobs: Zero
One Sentence: Someone should have listened to Stephen Colbert.

Grizzly Man is a documentary from Werner Herzog, but most of the footage, is shot by the main character of the film. Timothy Treadwell, the Grizzly Man. Werner Herzog is an acclaimed director, who touches on many different subjects, but seems to have a solid focus on the asskicking of man by nature, when man encroaches on her, and doesn't acknowledge that she can bitch slap you into a pancake at any time.

The doc, is about a man who lived amongst the Kodiak Grizzly Bears of Alaska for 13 summers. For the last 5 of those years, he filmed himself out in the wild. The documentary is about the man himself, and the footage he took. The life he lived, and the people that knew him. The bears that he knew and trusted and the foxes that be-friended him. His fights for the bears, and against the evils that he thought were out there against him and the animals he cared so much for.

The documentary was more real than many that you will ever experience, because a lot of the footage was shot like an inner monologue. It was shot by Timothy, and to edit for the future, with footage being cut out for no one to ever see. This led to a much darker display of a man that what he would have ever shown to other people. The truth and feeling was electric and real, it showed this man where he wanted to live and die, and all sides of a person who wants to live amongst the animals. He is far more real that the other footage shot by Herzog for this documentary, like his friends and doctors, who were acting and seemed like silly additions to this sad story.

The movie is probably not for everyone, and I think has a lot of hidden demons, and scary scenes about this man. Not outwardly scary, but those internal places you probably don't want to go. Especially if that person is disturbed. I thought the movie itself was a bit humorous and sad. I wouldn't say amazing, but I wouldn't say terrible either. Right down the middle with this one.
